Bruker appointed John Ornell, retired CFO of Waters, to its Board in August.

Bruker named Dr. René Lenggenhager as president of Bruker BioSpin, effective November 1. He previously served as general manager of Laboratory Weighing at Mettler-Toledo.

Fluidigm announced in September the opening of Australia’s first Single-Cell Genomics Centre of Excellence, located at the Monash Health Translation Precinct’s Medical Genomics Facility. The Center is the result of a partnership among Monash University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Newcastle and the Hudson Institute of Medical Research, working with Fluidigm.

Fluidigm announced in October that COO Fredric Walder is taking a leave of absence for personal matters.

In September, Trajan Scientific and Medical announced a strategic collaboration with the University of Adelaide’s Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing in Australia to create an R&D and manufacturing hub based on a new generation of specialty glass products.

Xylem named Colin Sabol as senior vice president and president, Analytics and Treatment, in September. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and president, Dewatering.

Agilent Technologies named Sue H. Rataj to its Board in September. She formerly served as chief executive of BP’s global petrochemical business.

In September, Agilent Technologies announced the opening of the Carleton Mass Spectrometry Center in partnership with Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. The Center is located in the department of chemistry. The Center is using a new analytical method, TrEnDi (trimethylation enhancement using diazomethane), developed at the University to increase MS sensitivity.

In October, Agilent Technologies opened a $6 million, 929 m2 (10,000 ft2) training facility, Agilent University, in Yishun, Singapore. It is the company’s first training facility in Asia, and caters to both customers and employees.

In September, Illumina joined the Worldwide Innovation Networking Consortium, a network of academic, industry, insurance and nonprofit research organizations working to make personalized cancer care a reality.

In October, Merck KGaA opened a €17 million ($19 million), 1,400 m2 (15,000 ft2) Innovation Center in Darmstadt, Germany. The site will also be home to a future €69 million ($78 million) Innovation Center.

In October, Analytik Jena expanded is Executive Board, adding Ulrich Krauss, former CEO of Carl Zeiss Vision in the US, for the area of Marketing and Sales, and Dr. Peter Juschitz, who most recently served as Technical Director at AHT Cooling Systems, as COO. CEO Klaus Berka’s contract expires in 2017. A replacement will be selected next year.

Teledyne Technologies promoted Al Pichelli, executive vice president, to the position of COO in October.
