Company Announcements

Agilent announced in March a strategic partnership with Pacific Laboratory Products in Australia to provide support and delivery for its chromatography columns and supplies.

Phenomenex announced in April direct sales and support in Mexico.

Waters and Ireland’s National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) will create the first database for glycan analysis by UPLC, which is expected to be available in 2011. NIBRT will develop, maintain and license the database, and Waters and NIBRT will comarket it.

Spark Holland BV announced in May that it sold its North American subsidiary to a private equity group. The new company, iChrom Solutions, will become a Spark premium partner.

In May, DSM Biologics acquired the assets and associated business of Upfront Chromatography A/S’s expanded bed adsorption chromatography–based Rhobust technology.

Product Introductions

Dionex introduced the FLD-3000 fluorescence detector series for its UltiMate 3000 HPLC.

Dionex released the Corona ultra Charged Aerosol Detector for its UltiMate 3000 HPLC and RSLC systems.

Repligen launched the Opus “plug and play” chromatography columns for biopharmaceutical production.

Agilent introduced BioHPLC ion exchange and size exclusion columns for the analysis of biomolecules, consisting of four column families: Bio SEC-3, Bio SEC-5, Bio Mab and Bio IEX.

Biochrom launched the Biochrom 30+ Series of amino acid analyzers based on ion exchange chromatography.

Spark Holland released the SPH1240 ultra gradient pump, which provides up to 18,000 psi for UHPLC analytical flow rates.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced five new phases of Thermo Scientific Hypersil GOLD HPLC columns: C4, Amino, AX, SAX and Silica. A total of 11 Hypersil GOLD phases are available.

Agilent introduced the mAb-Glyco-Chip, its HPLC-Chip for the analysis of N-glycans associated with monoclonal antibody molecules. It will be the 13th HPLC-Chip to be released, and will be available in September.

DataApex released the Clarity 3.0 chromatography data system, featuring more than 100 enhancements.

Sales/Orders of Note

Dionex announced in March that it won a tender order from the Polish Environmental Inspectorate for 42 units of the Dionex ICS-1100 system for the analysis of inorganic anions in water and air samples.
