JEOL Ltd. (Gon-emon Kurihara, President) announced a new correlative microscope system, ‘Mixcroscopy’,that combines optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy, to be distributed in April 19, 2013.

[Background]

There has been an increasing demand in bio and material science for a system that combines information acquired in optical microscopy and in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to study micro structures multidimentionally. To meet this demand, JEOL Ltd. developed a correlative microscope system, ‘Mixcroscopy’, in collaboration with Nikon Corporation(Makoto Kimura, President) , a leading optical microscope maker.

[Features]

Using specimen holders shared by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy and a program dedicated to stage data management, the Mixcroscopy can save an area of interest captured in optical imaging and magnify the same area in scanning electron imaging for micro structure analysis.

The system allows the operator to maintain the view in optical imaging and to continuously observe the area of interest in scanning electron imaging in a seamless manner, facilitating comparison of these images.
