Aarhus, Denmark — April 12, 2012 — In order to simplify the product portfolio, CLC bio announced today that the company has trimmed away the niche desktop software packages CLC DNA Workbench, CLC RNA Workbench, and CLC Protein Workbench. All features from these three niche workbenches are incorporated into a single commercial workbench for traditional sequence analysis and visualization, CLC Main Workbench, which also contains additional tools for gene expression analysis.

At the same time, a permanent price reduction has been introduced for CLC Main Workbench, effective immediately. For a static single computer license the price has been reduced from $3950 to $1999 for industrial customers and from $985 to $399 for academic customers. Network licenses now cost $3999 and $799 for industry and academia, respectively. Since the yearly fee for the Maintenance and Updates program is based on the list price, existing CLC Main Workbench customers will also benefit from this price reduction.

success from year one. But from a commercial perspective the time is now right to simplify our product portfolio in the traditional sequence analysis space. With these moves all of our customers are winning, as existing customers get extra features at no extra costs – while our future customers benefit instantly from the reduced prices.”

For customers who’re part of CLC bio’s Maintenance and Updates program, the current licenses will also work for CLC Main Workbench and their yearly fees in the Maintenance and Updates program will not increase. Customers who are not part of the Maintenance and Updates program can continue to work with their current workbenches, just as they do today.
