RTS Life Science to Exhibit at DDL20, Edinburgh, December 2009

Manchester, UK . RTS Life Science, a worldwide supplier of automated sample management and drug delivery testing systems, today announces that it will exhibit at the Drug Delivery to the Lungs (DDL) annual conference, Edinburgh International Conference Centre, 9th -11th December 2009. RTS staff will be available on booth #44 to discuss your dry powder and pressurised metered dose inhaler testing needs.

An on-booth competition will take place, allowing delegates to “characterise” their inhaler shaking techniques in terms of peak acceleration and shake reproducibility. A prize of an iPod Touch will be awarded to the best inhaler ‘mover and shaker’ at the show.

RTS Life Science provides a range of automated inhaler testing solutions for both development and quality control settings. The RTS mDPI (multi-dose dry powder inhaler) testing and automation systems feature fully integrated vacuum and drug-filtration systems, automated flow control, emitted dose detection and real-time monitoring of inhalation and actuation parameters via RTS TouchSprint™, a sophisticated yet intuitive method driven control system. A variety of standardised designs can easily be adapted to meet the actuation requirements of any dry powder device.

Also available are pMDI (pressurised metered dose inhaler) testing and automation systems. These feature integrated filtration and drug capture, rotary and linear shaking capability, ex-valve and ex-actuator firing, automated control and monitoring of shake and fire parameters and the intuitive RTS TouchSprint™ user interface. Both mDPI and pMDI systems are modular in design and can accommodate multiple devices allowing for extended periods of unattended operation.

Our flag ship “ADD Process Master” automation is a comprehensive solution for fully automated, through life dose content uniformity testing. The Process Master systems feature fully integrated HPLC analysis of emitted dose and deliver a lights out solution for “inhaler in, data out” through life device testing.

A recent addition to the RTS range is a new single device test firing system which enables reproducible conditioning, actuation, waste fire cycling, and introduction of inhalers to a variety of dose uniformity and particle size analysis equipment including dose collection tubes, cascade impactors (NGI and ACI), impingers, particle size analysers and waste drug collection systems. The systems feature a novel inhaler adapter system, the RTS TouchSprint™ user interface and can be easily incorporated into any inhalation laboratory environment and workflow.
