Currently, researchers are rapidly moving to the automated cell counter from the use of glass hemocytometer. Various automated cell counters are available, but these instruments are not flexible and accurate enough for a wide range of cell types. For example, primay cells such as PBMC, spenocyte, and yeast cells have been difficult-to-count cells with the conventional automated cell counters. A few fluorescence cell counters are available, but the instruments are less compact and considerably more expensive than Luna-FLTM fluorescence cell counter.
