Instem Further Enhances SRS Data Integration Platform

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Instem, a leading provider of IT solutions to the global early development healthcare market, announced today it has introduced additional enhancements to the recently released version 8.4 of its Sequence Retrieval System, also known as “SRS”.

SRS is a proven and scalable data integration platform that is used at both commercial and academic sites. Designed to ensure flexibility and scalability, SRS provides a multi-layer enterprise scale solution to the problem of large-scale bioinformatics and genomic data integration.

Released this past July, SRS version 8.4 includes support for indexing data using Apache Lucene technology. Users of SRS have access to advanced text-based search capabilities, including improved phrase matching, fuzzy matching of terms and sorting of results based on the relevance of the match to the initial search.

Since the July release, Instem has additionally enabled users of SRS versions 8.4 or 8.3 to instantly filter on the names of tools, databases and groups in the Databank List, Analysis Tool, Tool Launch and Query Builder pages. Tool Launch pages can now also be launched by external web sites, with tool parameters pre-populated as part of a GET URL. Because users can optionally fine tune the suggested parameters before launching, this method is an improvement over the previous syntax.

“Our user community is pleased to see the continued investment in SRS technology, along with our latest steps in organizing a Special Interest Group,” comments Mark Miller, Bioinformatics Application Specialist at Instem. “My priority is to help our commercial and academic clients within pharma, agriculture and biotechnology find relevant information, fast. Users of SRS can leverage the same tools for searching and analysing public information, as well as their proprietary data. I’m especially looking forward to interacting with more of our users as we work together to define and develop the SRS roadmap for the future.”

Instem Taking Steps to Strengthen SRS User Community

At an upcoming SRS Special Interest Group meeting of key users this November, Instem and its client community will be reviewing current SRS capabilities and sharing best practices while collaboratively shaping product plans for the future. Those plans include the delivery of SRS in a ready-to-run format along with new pricing options in 2014.

Instem also recently launched an online SRS application community within its Customer Center. This dedicated area is designed to be a value-added resource for SRS users around the globe offering access to key information such as recipes with examples of optional Lucene tunings. It also enables users to interact with Instem product managers along with other SRS users in a secure forum
