LI-COR Gives Back to the Future of Ecology

LINCOLN, Neb.–Continuing its dedication to undergraduate education and research, LI-COR Biosciences announces a $1,500 donation to the Ecological Society of America (ESA). The donation will go to Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity and Sustainability (SEEDS) and the ESA Real/Brown Student Travel Fund.

The donation is a result of a LI-COR campaign at the annual ESA Conference, August 4–9 in Minneapolis, MN, that asked researchers their reason for being in science. For every researcher who shared their reason, LI-COR made a donation to the fund of their choice.

“We are delighted that LI-COR initiated this campaign to support two programs that play a big role in the future of ecology,” said ESA Executive Director Katherine McCarter. “LI-COR has been a major supplier for ecologists for many years. It is heartening to know that the company values diversity and the future of ESA.”

SEEDS is an educational program designed to nurture and stimulate underrepresented students to not only participate in ecology, but to lead. The ESA Real/Brown Student Travel Fund provides financial assistance for U.S. and international students to travel to the annual ESA conference.
