Seahorse Bioscience Ships XFp Extracellular Flux Analyzers to First 50 Customers
Billerica, MA -– Seahorse Bioscience, the industry leader in metabolic analyzers and assay kits for measuring real time cell metabolism, has announced that the XFp Extracellular Flux Analyzer is now shipping. U.S. customers include the University of North Carolina, National Institutes of Health (NIH), Stanford University and Alexion Pharmaceuticals. European customers include the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, Universitatsklinikum Muenster in Germany and KU Leuven in Belgium. The easy-to-use, compact and affordable XFp Analyzer is the most recent addition to the Seahorse line of metabolic analyzers.
“Not only is the XFp Analyzer user-friendly … it’s fast,” commented Erik Norberg, Ph.D., from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. “The miniplate format, built-in assay templates and stress test kits provide a much more rapid process from preparation to results.”
Cell metabolism alterations are increasingly being recognized as significant factors in cancer, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. Providing metabolic analysis instruments that can enhance medical research to address the involvement of metabolism in these and other disorders will further the understanding of the relationship between cellular bioenergetic status and human health.
“We’re excited to begin shipping the XFp Analyzer and bring the power of our XF Technology to many more labs,” stated Cynthia Egan, director of worldwide marketing at Seahorse Bioscience. “Virtually any lab is now able to measure critical metabolic parameters associated with stress, aging and disease, and use this knowledge to further their research in ways not before possible. We are seeing special interest in translational research laboratories that want to measure the metabolic function of patient-derived, transgenic animal-derived and other precious samples. The XFp is a perfect choice for them.”
The XFp Analyzer measures metabolic function and phenotype in live cells in culture by performing “gold standard” XF assays. Simultaneously measuring the two major energy pathways of the cell – mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis – in real time, XF analyzers and stress test kits have set the standard in the measurement of functional cell metabolism. XF technology has been cited in nearly 1,500 peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals. The XFp Analyzer now provides scientists throughout the world access to this powerful enabling technology.
