Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. Defeats Brigham Young University and Torion Technologies, Inc. in Patent Suit
Pleasanton, California. August 24, 2009. Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. (gHTAh), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation (TOKYO:8036), announced that it has prevailed in a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Brigham Young University (gBYUh) and Torion Technologies, Inc. (gTorionh).
On December 8, 2008, BYU and Torion filed suit against HTA for patent infringement in the District of Utah. The suit alleged that certain of HTAfs mass spectrometer products
infringed United States Patent No. 7,060,987. On August 4, 2009, BYU and Torion filed a stipulation to dismiss their claims against HTA. On August 6, 2009, the federal court in Salt Lake City ordered dismissal of plaintiffsf suit.
HTA has always maintained that it at no time infringed the e987 Patent, and HTA has now been fully vindicated, has been recognized legitimate as plaintiffs dismissed their suit without receiving any payment or other compensation from HTA.
