Beckman Coulter Genomics Launches SPRIworks Fragment Library System II
Automated Benchtop System Prepares Samples for the Roche GS FLX DNA Sequencer
DANVERS, Mass. – Beckman Coulter Genomics introduces the SPRIworks Fragment Library System II. The second release in the SPRIworks product line automates the preparation of fragment libraries for the Roche GS FLX* DNA Sequencer, and can prepare up to 10 DNA libraries in 3.5 hours with high reproducibility and consistency.
SPRIworks Fragment Library System II, developed by Beckman Coulter Genomics, utilizes Solid Phase Reversible Immobilization (SPRI) paramagnetic bead-based technology. By using SPRI chemistry and Beckman Coulter automation, SPRIworks System II eliminates manual library construction, allowing researchers to perform other laboratory processes.
SPRIworks System II follows the introduction earlier this year of SPRIworks System I, which prepares DNA fragment libraries for analysis on the Illumina GA sequencing system. SPRIworks Fragment Library Systems I and II are based on the same benchtop platform. By using cartridges and method cards specific to each sequencing system, fragment libraries can be prepared for both the Roche GS FLX and Illumina GA sequencers on a single instrument.
“The introduction of SPRIworks System II enables us to more fully serve customers who use DNA fragment libraries,” commented Julie Moore, director of marketing for Beckman Coulter Genomics. “Automating the library construction process for these two leading sequencing platforms offers significant time and labor savings by simplifying the next generation sequencing workflow.”
