GE Healthcare Celebrates 20 Years of Prepacked HiPrep™ Chromatography Columns
Launches Next Generation Simplified Hardware Format
Uppsala, Sweden, April 6, 2009 – GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), is marking the 20th anniversary of the prepacked HiPrep column family by launching next generation HiPrep 16/10 columns. The new column hardware has been redesigned to give the same high performance, reproducibility and ease-of-use, while using significantly less plastic.
Karsten Fjärstedt, product marketing director, GE Healthcare, said: “HiPrep columns are as popular today as they have been since their introduction 20 years ago. Customers from academia to industry have consistently benefited from the technology’s high performance, reliability and ease-of-use which allows easy connection to chromatography systems such as ÄKTA™ design.”
HiPrep 16/10 columns are available prepacked with a wide range of chromatography media covering applications for ion exchange chromatography, hydrophobic interaction, as well as affinity chromatography e.g. for the purification of GST- and histidine-tagged proteins. These prepacked columns are ideal for use in laboratory scale up, directly from HiTrap™ and HiScreen™ columns. Refinement of the column hardware and packaging in which the columns are shipped has resulted in a reduction in the amount of materials required, adding to the reduced environmental impact of this product.
