Arnold O. Beckman Award for Separations Techniques goes to Barry L. Karger of Northeastern U.
Framingham, Mass.– SCIEX Separations, part of AB SCIEX, announced today that Professor Barry Karger, founding director of Northeastern University’s Barnett Institute of Chemical and Biological Analysis, is the recipient of the Arnold O. Beckman Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievements in the field of electrodriven separation techniques. The award was presented yesterday as part of the opening ceremonies of the 30th International Symposium on Microscale Bioseparations. This annual award was initiated three years ago by the Capillary Electrophoresis Business Unit at Beckman Coulter, which has since combined with the Eksigent Chromatography Business to become SCIEX Separations.
In recognizing outstanding contributions to the field of electrodriven separation techniques, the award is given to an individual for noteworthy career achievements supported by a significant lifelong body of work. Particular consideration is given to the development of new methods, techniques and high-impact applications in the field of electrophoresis.
The award comprises a Medal, a Diploma, a monetary prize, and book describing Arnold O. Beckman’s 100-year legacy.
“We are very pleased to sponsor this medal and award,” said Jeff Chapman, director of the CE Business Unit at Sciex Separations. “Professor Karger’s career truly exemplifies the values that this award was created to acknowledge, and his scientific legacy has shaped what is now state-of-the-art implementation of capillary electrophoresis.”
