Tripos International Announces Completion of Two-Year Initiative with Accenture in Enhancing Research Efficiency for Leading Pharmaceutical Company
Tripos Benchware(R) Discovery 360 Product in Joint Venture to Support Wyeth Discovery Research
ST. LOUIS, Aug 05, 2008 — Tripos International, a leading provider of drug discovery informatics products and services, today announced the implementation of the Benchware(R) Discovery 360 system (v. 4.0) by Wyeth Discovery Research as part of a joint project with global management consulting and technology services giant Accenture, focused on enhancing and accelerating the drug discovery process of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
Working closely with Wyeth scientists, Wyeth Information Services and Accenture, Tripos International designed and built a discovery and collaboration software solution that integrates various new and legacy data repositories at Wyeth. An implementation of Tripos’ Benchware Discovery 360 product, the solution leverages Wyeth Discovery Research’s new data warehouse and enables Wyeth scientists to rapidly and easily access, analyze and share enterprise-wide research data from a single integrated discovery environment.
Tripos’ Patrick Flanagan, Senior Vice President, Business Development said, “We are pleased to have been able to work closely with Wyeth’s scientists and Information Services group and Accenture to deliver a workflow process improvement that reduces the time spent by Wyeth scientists analyzing and joining data from multiple sources from hours to minutes. Tripos’ Benchware Discovery 360 brings together chemical and biological data with analytics and inventory data, allowing scientists to spend more time understanding what the data means and more time in the lab, increasing overall research efficiency. Wyeth’s experience in organizing discovery data and Wyeth and Accenture’s expertise in data warehousing made the implementation a powerful and effective one. The initial deployment and user training for Benchware Discovery 360 was provided to 250 scientists, and will be deployed to all 1,200 discovery scientists by the end of 2008. Additionally, Tripos continues to work with Wyeth to implement new data analysis and visualization capabilities.”
“This is an important milestone in our efforts to enhance and streamline the way we access, use and share the data generated by our discovery research scientists,” said Frank Walsh, Ph.D., Executive Vice President of Discovery, Wyeth Research. “We anticipate that this application will have a significant impact not only on the speed and efficiency with which our scientists can access, share and assess data, but also on the overall data packages we are able to generate for our research.”
“We were delighted to collaborate closely with our client, Wyeth, and Tripos to help deliver a visionary scientific workbench, enabling over 1,000 Wyeth scientists to make better research decisions,” said Arjun Bedi, global managing partner for Accenture’s Health & Life Sciences R&D practice. “The Tripos Benchware Discovery 360 application; along with a new, near real-time discovery data warehouse providing processes and standards for managing data; can drive higher productivity and allow discovery scientists to focus on science rather than non-value added data management tasks,” he added.
Benchware Discovery 360 provides drug discovery scientists and research managers with a single point of entry from which they can access and analyze data from disparate enterprise repositories of biological and chemical data and share the knowledge gained. Benchware Discovery 360 integrates tightly with multiple applications from other vendors, including Spotfire, Benchware 3D Explorer, Microsoft Excel, ChemDraw and statistical tools, providing researchers access to their favorite analysis and productivity tools.
