SciGene and ARUP Laboratories to Automate DNA

Sample Processing for aCGH-Based Genetic Tests

September 03, 2008, SciGene (Sunnyvale, CA) and ARUP Laboratories (Salt Lake City, UT) announced today they have entered into an agreement under which they will develop an automated platform for processing DNA samples used in microarray-based tests used for detecting genetic defects.

Under the agreement, SciGene will provide the ArrayPrep™ Target Preparation System, a robotic liquid handling and incubation platform designed to automate procedures used to label, purify and load patient DNA samples onto microarrays. ARUP Laboratories will provide the scientific expertise for testing and optimizing the procedures performed on the ArrayPrep System. The principal goal of the agreement is the joint development of a fully automated method that will process patient samples in less than one working day.
