TERA K15 Mark II: for quick and easy THz material analysis

MARTINSRIED, Germany — — Menlo Systems has introduced the Tera K15 Mark II fiber-coupled terahertz time-domain spectrometer for applications such as materials analysis and inspection in the plastics, paper, food processing, automotive and security industries. The compact configuration requires minimal alignment effort and offers flexibility for quick and easy application in transmission and reflection geometry. TERA K15 is therefore ideal for laboratories oriented towards high-performance investigation of various material properties.

The TERA K15 technology is based on materials designed for the MIR spectral range at around 1560nm. The setup includes the femtosecond fiber laser, fiber-coupled THz emitter and detector antenna modules, fiber-coupled opto-mechanical light path with delay line, THz beam path, electronics for lock-in detection and a PC with data acquisition.

Software package includes LabView based TeraScan mesurement and automation software, TeraFFT and TeraMat software for spectral data analysis and calculation of material parameters (absorption coefficient and refractive index). TeraMat is suitable for sample thickness of several 100 µm and above.

For THz imaging applications the fully automated extension unit TERA Image can be integrated into the setup.

NEW: Menlo’s latest generation model TERA K15 Mark II is based on all-PM fiber laser technology with instantaneous mode locking.
