Hach’s ez COD(tm) Service Reaches Recycling Milestone

Loveland, Colo.-Feb. 4, 2009-The Hach Company and Heritage Environmental

Services announced a milestone in their ez COD service: 2 million vials

have been recycled since the program’s inception.

The ez COD Recycling Service started in 2005 and was the first of its

kind in the United States. The program works in three convenient steps:

1. Deposit used Hach COD vial directly into the recycling

container.

2. Contact Heritage to schedule waste removal appropriate for the

facility.

3. Reorder as needed.

The USEPA requires safe disposal of waste generated by the dichromate

Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) method. To simplify this process, Hach

partnered with Heritage Environmental Services to offer the ez COD

Recycling Service to U.S. customers in the 48 contiguous states.

This service provides all wastewater facilities with a DOT-approved

recycling container, prepared handling documents and pre-paid

transportation to a recycling facility for easy and environmentally

sound reagent reclamation.

City Manager Marlowe Adkins from Richmond City, Utah, said: “The ez COD

Recycling plan is a small-system operator’s dream because it allows

personnel to attend to the treatment plant instead of being distracted

with waste issues. We not only save precious time and operational costs,

but also dispose of one of our major challenges!”

Hach COD Reagents and the ez COD Recycling Program create a convenient,

safe and cost-effective solution. To calculate ez COD cost-savings,
