Photon Machines Acquires Spectrolaser® from XRF Scientific
Redmond, WA – Photon Machines, Inc. is pleased to announce a new LIBS product in its line of laser-based elemental analyzers. Photon Machines has reached an agreement with XRF Scientific Pty., Ltd., of Australia, to purchase the Spectrolaser™ system developed by XRF Scientific subsidiary Laser Analysis Technologies (LAT).
The Spectrolaser™ is designed for rapid analysis of elemental concentrations using laser plasma spectroscopy called LIBS. The Spectrolaser system software is replete with both traditional analysis methods and advanced chemometric methods, allowing instantaneous reporting of quantitative elemental concentrations from each sample measured. Benefits of the method include speed, simplicity, multi-element analysis capability, and the ability to measure light elements such as C, B, Be, and Li, with which many other methods have difficulty.
Steve Buckley, President of Photon Machines said, “The Spectrolaser is a great compliment to our family of LIBS and laser ablation products. It fills an important marketplace need and will find a home where rapid multi-elemental measurements are required, particularly in situations where replicate bulk measurements are sought.” Terry Sweet, Managing Director of XRF Scientific, comments: “We are pleased to place the Spectrolaser with Photon Machines, where it will be in the best possible hands to continue to develop new markets and applications for the LIBS system.” Initial anticipated markets include glass and metallurgical analysis, mining, and energy exploration.
Photon Machines, a leading supplier of laser ablation and LIBS systems worldwide, is based in Redmond, WA. XRF Scientific is a publicly-traded company focused on material analysis, with locations throughout Australia.
