SAN DIEGO, CA – Biomatrica, Inc., a world leader in ambient

temperature biological preservation technology, today announced the addition of

a new board member and the hiring of a new member of its management team.

Nicolas M. Barthelemy was added to Biomatrica’s Board of Directors. Mr.

Barthelemy is an accomplished biotechnology executive with over 20 years of

global experience across a broad range of functions and company sizes. This

includes leading organizations responsible for up to $4B in revenue, $400M in

operating budget and 3,500 employees, in addition to managing P&Ls of up to

$1B. Most recently, he served at Life Technologies as Chief Commercial Officer

(President, Global Commercial Operations), President of Cell Systems Division,

Senior VP of Cell Culture Systems Division, and Senior VP of Global Operations.

Previous to working at Life Technologies, he held several senior management

positions at Biogen Idec, including Vice President, Manufacturing & GM and

Director, Market development, Japan and Asia Pacific. Mr. Barthelemy is a

recognized operations leader in large scale mammalian cell culture and

purification. He received his M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of

California, Berkeley and an Engineering Degree from École Supérieure de

Physiques et Chimie Industrielles (Paris, France).

Jeff Whitmore was hired as Biomatrica’s Vice President of Commercial

Development. Mr. Whitmore brings unique sales leadership experience with large

public enterprises and small early-stage life science growth companies. Prior to

joining Biomatrica, he was Vice President of Life Science Sales at Singulex Inc.

through its initial commercialization and exponential growth phase. He served as

Vice president of Imaging Sales at Protein Simple and Executive Vice President

of Global Sales at Alpha Innotech Corporation where he oversaw all aspects of

the companies’ sales and marketing in North America, Europe and Asia.

Previously, he was Director of European Life Science Sales for Molecular

Devices. His expertise includes commercial operations development, channel

development, channel sales, imaging sales, drug screening applications, clinical

immunoassays, North America and foreign market sales team establishment. He

holds a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology and Chemistry from the University

of Wisconsin.
