Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School was set up as part of the Singapore Government’s S$3 Billion Biomedical Sciences Initiative in 2000, to place Singapore at the forefront of biomedical research. The collaboration with Duke University was formalized in 2003. Teaching and research facilities are now in the final stages of construction, and admissions for the 2010 intake have begun.

Duke-NUS is Singapore’s first post-graduate medical college with a strong emphasis on research. As part of the rigorous 4 year curriculum, students spend an entire year in one of the signature research hubs – Cancer & Stem Cell Biology, Neuroscience & Behavioural Disorders, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disorders and Health Services Research.

Esco was selected to provide critical containment equipment for researchers engaged in translational research, and supplied 70 Labculture(R) Class II Type A2 Biological Safety Cabinets for laboratories spread over a combined floor space of 23,100 square meters.
