Irvine Scientific Introduces New Cell Therapy Products for Cell Expansion and Differentiation
SANTA ANA, California — Irvine Scientific, a strategic manufacturer of cell culture media,
announced today the expansion of their cell therapy product portfolio with the launch of new media and recombinant
growth factors. The product line is designed to provide an integrated workflow solution for the culture of human stem
cells and primary cells. In addition to the existing PRIME-XVTM MSC Expansion SFM medium, intended for the
expansion of human mesenchymal stem cells, Irvine Scientific is introducing three new media. These new
formulations are used for neural progenitor cell (NPC) expansion, amniotic fluid stem cell (AFSC) expansion and
tumorsphere formation. To facilitate clinical applications, these media are manufactured in an ISO13485 certified
facility and have pending Drug Master Files.
“A major hurdle in using stem cells and primary cells for developing therapeutic applications is the ability to generate
sufficient quantities of functional cells of the targeted type,” says Dr. Jessie Ni, Chief Scientific Officer at Irvine
Scientific. “That’s why our main goal when developing new products is to provide high performing media that
maximizes cell growth and maintains desired cell function.”
PRIME-XVTM Amniotic Fluid Stem Cell Expansion Medium represents one of the first commercially available expansion
media for extended human AFSC culture.
PRIME-XVTM Neural Progenitor Expansion Xeno-Free, Serum-Free Medium is designed to optimally expand human
NPCs in neurospheres and monolayers.
PRIME-XVTM Tumorsphere Serum-Free Medium is validated for the formation of tumorspheres from various human
tumor cell lines.
Additionally, Irvine Scientific offers animal component-free, recombinant human growth factors such as Activin A,
FGF-basic 154, and GM-CSF.
