Salem, NH — Horizon Technology (USA) is pleased to work with the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an undergraduate summer intern, Elizabeth Krantz, to put coursework theory into practice with current laboratory automation, consumables, and techniques. Food safety is an increasingly important initiative around the world, with specific attention to mycotoxins in food and agriculture products. This internship will focus on sample extraction, sample cleanup, and sample analysis research for determination of Aflatoxin compounds and Deoxynivalenol (vomitoxin). Research will utilise current consumables technology with automated solid phase extraction and automated sample analysis to show overall method efficiency and consistency between sample replicates for multiple sample matrices. “We are pleased to be able to support the practical application of scientific education and look forward to a poster at the AOAC meeting in September”, said Toni Hofhine, global market development manager for the SmartPrep Cartridge Extractor at Horizon Technology.
