Corning Incorporated Expands its Life Sciences Product Portfolio to Include Cell Culture Media and Custom Solutions
The Corning cellgro product line, combined with Corning’s disposable vessels and surfaces, provides researchers with a comprehensive portfolio of products for all stages of cell culture growth and scale-up, from sample preparation and separation through harvesting. Corning cellgro products are manufactured by Mediatech Inc., a subsidiary of Corning Incorporated.
“Enhancing our cell culture and molecular biology portfolio with the cellgro brand supports our continued commitment to deliver customers worldwide with a full range of innovative laboratory products,” said Dr. Richard Eglen, vice president and general manager, Corning Life Sciences. “We now offer researchers and manufacturers off-the-shelf or fully customized beginning-to-end cell culture workflow solutions to facilitate upstream and downstream cell culture, help improve efficiency, and produce more reliable, repeatable results.”
The Corning cellgro product line includes culture media, reagents, sera, and flexible packaging systems. These products were formerly marketed under Mediatech’s cellgro brand and, effective April 1, 2012, will be rebranded under the Corning cellgro brand. The new brand will continue to offer the same high-quality products and solutions to which customers have become accustomed. Corning cellgro products will initially be available in North America, and customers will be able to purchase them through existing Mediatech distribution channels as well as directly.
“This advancement bolsters our acquisition strategy and the synergistic approach we take to add incremental value to our customers,” Eglen added. “Since the acquisition of Mediatech Inc. in December 2011, we have also successfully integrated our sales and technical support teams to support the newly expanded full product line.”
Corning Life Sciences brings new and innovative laboratory technologies to researchers worldwide and helps customers succeed by providing innovative, high-quality products and services in the areas of polymer science, biochemistry and molecular biology, glass melting and forming, surface modification, and characterization science.
