Thermo Fisher Scientific Unveils Enhanced Instrumentation for High-Throughput Tissue Processing

RUNCORN, Cheshire – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced its latest STP 420ES tissue processor for use in high-volume pathology laboratories. The updated instrument features more robust hardware and ease-of-use, enabling the high-throughput processing of large volumes of tissue to meet the demands of today’s laboratories.

The Thermo Scientific STP 420ES models are designed to accommodate the most demanding requirements of researchers and pathologists in the field of tissue processing and have become an essential part of the laboratory workflow. The latest STP 420ES has been updated to include more robust hardware to handle the increasing number of samples processed in modern laboratories. The instrument’s dual chambers allow it to perform simultaneous or independent processing of up to 420 tissue cassettes, enabling higher throughput. In addition, ultimate fluid exchange is ensured by the innovative rotational movement of the main chamber. Rotational agitation is also up to seven-times more effective than conventional tidal agitation, eliminating the need for reprocessing.

The latest STP 420ES tissue processor can be combined with Fast Flex reagents to create a streamlined processing system, increasing throughput while maintaining tissue integrity. The Thermo Scientific Fast Flex tissue processing reagents combine the stability of traditional reagent

technologies with the unique features of the STP 420ES to generate same-day-results. Additionally, Fast Flex reagents are easy to use, reducing labor burdens and drastically increasing fluid exchange, resulting in better processed tissue samples.

Further enhancements made to the STP 420ES include optimized user guiding software and touch screen operation. The STP 420ES is also supported by improved user documentation including user training manuals and quick reference guides to aid daily operation. With the introduction of its latest

tissue processor, Thermo Fisher continues to offer excellent training to customers, ensuring instrument dependability.

Peter Brooks, the company’s international product manager for Anatomical Pathology in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, comments: “We are pleased to unveil the latest STP 420ES tissue processor, an easy-to-use instrument that features more robust software than previous models to enable increased throughput. The modern laboratory demands that tissue is processed efficiently and accurately in the shortest possible time and that instruments are user-friendly. The STP 420ES combines speed with ease-of-use and reinforces Thermo Fisher’s position as leading provider of instruments for high-quality tissue processing.”
