Micronit launches off-the-shelf droplet generator chips for the fluidic connect platform
NEW: DROPLET GENERATOR CHIPS FOR THE FLUIDIC CONNECT PLATFORM
Enschede, The Netherlands – The generation of microsized droplets is gaining more and more attention from researchers in life-sciences, chemistry, material sciences, cosmetics, and food research. These droplets have a size in the order of a tenth of the diameter of a human hair and posses new and exiting properties which can lead to cleaner chemistry, better materials, improved care products and healthier food.
To facilitate this research Micronit Microfluidics now offers a number off-the-shelf droplet generator chips for its Fluidic Connect platform. The droplet generator chips come in two versions; a T-shaped and focussed flow design. Both version are available in a hydrophilic (glass) and hydrophobic (coated glass) version allowing the generation of oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions respectively. The glass chips feature precisely etched channels ensuring controlled and repeatable droplet formation with high uniformity in droplet size.
“Over the years we have seen a growing interest from our costumers in droplet generators. We have been supplying these researchers with custom solutions so far”, explains Ronny van ‘t Oever, CTO of Micronit. “The feedback we got from these projects helped us to created these designs. With the off-the shelf droplet generators we hope to open up the field of microsized droplet generation to more researchers”
Fluidic Connect is a microfluidic research platform which features an easy-to-connect chipholder, the Fluidic Connect 4515, a prototyping service, Fluidic PRO, and a range of off-the-shelf chips including mixers, droplet generators and microreactors. The platform is designed to make microfluidic research easy and accessible for researchers working in life-sciences and chemistry.
