QFAB joins the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health
QFAB Bioinformatics is proud to have joined the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health as an Organisational Member, and to share in its mission to develop and establish effective and responsible harmonised approaches for genomic and clinical data sharing.
The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) is a broad and inclusive organisation that includes some of the world’s leading healthcare providers, research funders, research institutions, disease advocacy organisations, and life science and information technology companies. It currently has over 240 members from twenty-seven countries.
The members of GA4GH recognise that the full value of integrated genomic data and clinical information can only be achieved by aggregating and analysing larger amounts of data than is possible for any single group to generate. As such, they agree that the public interest will be best served if they work together at an early stage in the growing popularity of genome sequencing, in order to develop and promulgate standards that will make it possible to share and interpret this wealth of information in a manner that is both effective and responsible
“Joining GA4GH demonstrates QFAB’s ongoing commitment to implementing and contributing to international best practice in the management of biological and clinical data ” says Dominique Gorse, General Manager of QFAB. “The evidence is clear that researchers benefit from responsible sharing of their data. Adopting the recommendations of the Alliance will enable QFAB to help our partners to reap these benefits”.
