Cocoon Resources Announces New CEO for Volatile Analysis Corporation

Executive Leader in Metabolomics, Dr. Mark Libardoni, joins Volatile Analysis as Chief Executive Officer

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – Cocoon Resources, Inc., along with the Volatile Analysis Corporation’s board of directors, announced today Dr. Mark Libardoni has been named Chief Executive Officer for Volatile Analysis Corporation.

“We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Libardoni join the Volatile Analysis Team,” said Katherine Malmay-Bazemore, Cocoon Resources CEO, and Co-founder of Volatile Analysis. “Mark’s seasoned track record as an executive leader in the field of Metabolomics will bring a much faster track for monetization of Volatile Analysis’ patent pending breath culturing technologies in disease and chemical detection. Mark’s ability to build successful organizations around strong customer relations will be key in taking Volatile Analysis to the next level.” Dr. Libardoni has held senior level positions in both business and technical science for more than 12 years and has proven success in the growing Metabolomic market, estimated at more than $2 billion by 2012. Most recently he managed separation science business for LECO Corporation – a leader in Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Gas Chromatography and Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry. His earlier positions included Technical Director of Applications and Director of Advanced Research. Dr. Libardoni stays active in the scientific community with continued presentations, publications and technical papers on Metabolomics, Mass Spectrometry and Advanced Chromatographic Methods.

Dr. Libardoni received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, specializing in high-speed and multi-dimensional gas chromatography. His undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Chemistry and Business Management, was received from California State University, Northridge. “Volatile Analysis has a unique position with great talent and a strong technology portfolio in the rapidly growing market of biotechnology,” noted Dr. Libardoni. “Positioning Volatile Analysis as a major player in Metabolomic contract work and technology driven research is one area where I see future growth – I’m very excited about the challenges and opportunity ahead.”
