LGC Standards acquires VHG Labs Inc
LGC Standards, the leading global supplier of reference materials, is pleased to announce that it has acquired US-based VHG Labs, a leading supplier of spectrochemical standards, consumables for laboratory instrumentation and product testing services.
LGC Standards and VHG are an excellent fit: both companies supply reference materials and provide proficiency and consumer product testing services, and share a commitment to the highest standards of quality and customer service. This acquisition follows closely LGC Standards’ acquisition of Analytical Reference Materials International (ARMI) in March; an industrial reference materials company also based in the US. The VHG Labs acquisition further strengthens LGC’s US base and follows the appointment of Ed Pagani as Chief Executive Officer for LGC’s US operations; a new role that reflects the importance of the region to the LGC Group.
VHG was founded in 1981 and operates from a purpose-built facility in Manchester, New Hampshire. VHG is accredited to ISO Guide 34 for the production of reference materials for oil based testing and aqueous inorganic standards. The Company also offers a range of consumable supplies for laboratory instrumentation and analytical testing for high purity materials, metal alloys, consumer products and a wide range of commercial products.
LGC Standards supplies over 100,000 products, including reference materials, pharmaceutical impurity reference standards, biological standards and reagents, and is one of the world’s leading providers of proficiency testing services. Both LGC Standards and VHG are noted for their customer service, using their in-depth knowledge to identify the most appropriate material for their customers.
David Richardson, Managing Director of LGC Standards, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Sue Evans Norris, President of VHG, and Mike Travers, Vice President Sales and Marketing at VHG, and their team into the LGC Group. LGC Standards and VHG Labs are an excellent complementary fit. For LGC Standards, this latest acquisition builds on our strategy to increase our footprint in the US market. Importantly, it is also a good fit with our industrial reference materials operations and will help strengthen our ability to meet the growing demand for industrial reference materials from around the world. We very much look forward to working with Mike, Sue and the wider team at VHG Labs.”
