Thermo Fisher Scientific Debuts First Six-Dye Forensic Kit Customized for European Database Requirements
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.–Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, today debuted the first six-dye forensic kit specifically customized for European database requirements. The Applied Biosystems NGM Detect PCR Amplification Kit is designed to enable forensic analysts to maximize recovery of DNA information from degraded samples, which is essential to produce a profile that can be uploaded into European DNA databases, increasing the number of matches and investigative leads.
Powered by six-dye chemistry, the NGM Detect kit helps minimize the size of highly discriminating markers such as SE33, which is known to be a strong marker for forensic identification purposes due to its highly polymorphic nature. The NGM Detect kit also provides a complementary configuration to the well-established Applied Biosystems NGM SElect PCR Amplification Kit format for dual amplification purposes. To date the NGM Detect kit has been trialed by more than 10 European forensic laboratories and is des
