TA Instruments Buys Physical Testing Assets
Fifty employees will join TA as a result of the transaction, according to Ed Moriarty, director of Worldwide Marketing for TA. He told IBO, “The ElectroForce Dynamic Mechanical Test targeted markets include: the medical device market, with particular strength in the cardiovascular device segment; the tissue engineering and biomaterials markets; and the general engineered materials market, with an emphasis on tire/rubber, electronics, and general materials research and development segments.” The acquisition expands TA’s DMA system offerings and marks TA’s entrance into the physical-testing market.
New Castle, DE 5/26/15—TA Instruments, a Waters subsidiary, has acquired certain assets of Bose ElectroForce from technology firm Bose for an undisclosed amount. Bose ElectroForce manufactures dynamic mechanical testing (DMA) systems used to characterize medical devices, biologics and engineered materials. “[Bose ElectroForce] pioneered the use of electromagnetic motors in scientific instruments. We’re excited to gain access to new markets, and we believe there are tremendous opportunities to leverage the technology, infrastructure and customer bases of our respective organizations to grow this business,” commented TA President Terry Kelly.
