Advion entered into its 10th OEM agreement in September 2013.
In October 2013, Thermo Fisher Scientific announced a collaboration with the University of Salzburg’s Christian Doppler Laboratory for Biosimilar Characterization and scientists from Sandoz Pharmaceuticals to develop new methods for characterizing proteins to be used in biopharmaceuticals. Thermo will provide expertise for applying Orbitrap-based LC/MS, nano-UHPLC and software.
AB SCIEX opened a regional office and technical support center in Dubai in October 2013.
AB SCIEX expanded its operations in Marsiling, Singapore, with the opening of a new R&D center. It is the company’s first R&D center outside of North America.
In November 2013, Waters recognized the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences’ core Mass Spectrometry Facility as the first Waters Center of Innovation for Mass Spectrometry Research and Education.
Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Pesticide Analysis Center of Excellence announced collaborations with the EU Reference Laboratories for Residues of Pesticides in Fruits and Vegetables at the University of Almeria, Spain, for the use of the Q-Exactive Orbitrap, and the UK Food and Environment Research Agency for use of the TSQ 8000 triple quadrupole MS pesticide analyzer.

Advion launched the compact expression L MS system, featuring an extended mass range of 2000 m/z.
In October, Indigo BioSystems released ASCENT 2.0 automated lab data analysis software, which is now available as an online, hosted solution.
In November, Biognosys introduced a redesigned iRT (indexed retention time) kit, expanding its applications to shotgun proteomics.
Cerno Bioscience released MassWorks 4, which adds DirectRead data support for the Thermo Fisher Scientific Orbitrap and FT-ICR MS, Agilent Technologies TOF MS and Waters TOF MS.
In December 2013, Bioinformatics Solutions released PEAKS Studio 7, featuring an automatic validation approach for de novo sequencing.
In November 2013, AB SCIEX launched its IVD-MS Analyzer for LC/MS/MS. It is CE marked for general IVD use in Europe and includes ClearCore MD Software.
Advion launched in December 2013 the Chip-Mate electrospray ionization nano-LC ion source, an extension of its TriVersa NanoMate technology. It features 25 emitter nozzles. It is compatible with Thermo Fisher Scientific MS systems.
Genedata released Genedata Expressionist for Mass Spectrometry 8.0, which provides a single platform for the integrated analysis of metabolomics data.
