Agilent Adds to Vacuum Pump Products
This is Agilent’s first acquisition for the vacuum business it gained through the purchase of Varian in 2010 (see IBO 7/31/09). The acquisition expands the range of pumps the business offers and provides geographic diversification. The business’s current products include high vacuum pump, wet primary pumps and vacuum instrumentation.
Santa Clara, CA 12/21/11—Agilent has acquired PVR, an Italian vacuum pump manufacturer, for an undisclosed amount. PVR’s product portfolio includes rotary vane vacuum pumps for the industrial market and oil-free micro pumps, rotary lobe vacuum pumps, dry rotary claw vacuum pumps, central vacuum systems, and vacuum accessories for the food, paper, chemical and other industries. PVR has had an OEM relationship with Agilent’s Vacuum Products Division (formerly Varian) since 2008. “Joining together as one company will only accelerate our innovations and increase our ability to serve customers faster and better with a broader range of solutions,” said Giampaolo Levi, vice president and general manager of the Division. Agilent stated that PVR also adds a significant customer base in Asia. All of PVR’s 38 employees will join Agilent, and PVR’s operations will remain in Italy.
