Cambridge, MA 10/14/10; Washington, DC 10/15/10—Helicos BioSciences has appointed Dr. Ivan Trifunovich as president and CEO. He served as a senior consultant to the Board and was elected executive chairman last month. Previously, he served as senior vice president of molecular diagnostics firm Third Wave Technologies. Helicos BioSciences also announced the launch of a technology-licensing program for its Single Molecule Sequencing Platform. “We plan to leverage this broad intellectual property estate that covers all sequencing-by-synthesis methods through licensing, partnering and enforcement strategies,” stated Dr. Trifunovich. Also, the company received a letter from the NASDAQ Stock Market stating it did not meet the minimum bid price requirement and would be delisted on October 21. The company plans to appeal the decision.
