VWR Adds Turkish and UK Distributors
Last year, VWR bought basan GmbH (see IBO 4/30/12). VWR’s operations in Germany, France, the UK, Belgium and Switzerland represented 64% of its European Lab segment net sales in 2012 (see page 10). Last year, VWR spent $117 million, net of cash acquired, on acquisitions.
Radnor, PA 4/2/13; Radnor, PA 4/4/13—VWR has purchased two European firms. VWR International has acquired Prolab Laboratuar Teknolojileri (Prolab), a Turkish distributor of scientific laboratory supplies. Financial details were not disclosed. Prolab has been VWR’s distributor in Turkey for several years. “In alignment with our recent acquisitions in China and Latin America, Prolab will allow VWR to further expand our geographic reach to better serve our global customers in an increasingly important market for VWR,” commented VWR President and CEO Manuel Brocke-Benz. VWR also acquired Basan UK, a distributor of cleanroom products and services, for an undisclosed amount.
