HSBC estimates that $512 million in worldwide stimulus funding will go toward green projects. In 2009, 22% of this funding is expected to be spent. South Korea has committed the largest share of its economic stimulus plan, 79%, to green projects, with major programs for job creation and clean technology. The EU has pledged a 64% share of its stimulus funding to green projects, particularly energy infrastructure. In China, 34% of its $586 billion stimulus plan is for green projects, including a new initiative announced in July to increase solar-power capacity from 100 MW in 2008 to 2 GW by 2011. Australia and France have pledged 21% and 18% of stimulus spending to green projects, respectively.
