Investments slated for the 400 hectare (1,000 acre) Skolkovo technology center under construction near Moscow, Russia, may be in jeopardy due to a recent political dispute. President Vladimir Putin has reversed a decision by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that mandated state firms fund MIT’s Skoltech institute at over $900 million. Russia’s Investigative Committee is examining potential mishandling of Skolkovo funds. Three of Mr. Medvedev’s ministers have recently been terminated, and criminal cases are pending against two Skolkovo officials. Foreign firms have announced investments of nearly half a billion dollars in Skolkovo. A spokesperson for Mr. Putin said that the president supports the center.
