China-based Shinetek Instruments acquired gas-generator maker ZhongYa Gas Instruments Research Institute in February. ZhongYa products will be sold under the ChemVak brand.

BINDER announced in February a reorganization under which executive-team members were appointed as division managers. BINDER had 2013 sales of more than €60 million ($80 million).

Belux lab equipment distributor Analis acquired Belgian lab-furniture manufacturer Ardesta.

In March, Terso Solutions announced a partnership with Helmer Scientific, integrating its RFID technology into Helmer’s 20 ft3 medical-grade refrigerators.

Erlab announced in March an OEM partnership with Labconco for its GreenFumeHood technology for filtered fume hoods. A new product integrating their respective technology and fume hood superstructure will be introduced by Labconco later this year.

In March, Bluechiip announced a codevelopment agreement with Micronic Manufacturing for the development of a new dual-identity vial for the cryopreservation market that incorporates the Bluechiip RF MEMS tag and Micronic’s 2D Data-Matrix code. The two companies will collaborate on selling and marketing the product.

Product Introductions

Vapourtec introduced in February the plug-and-play UV-150 photochemical reactor for use with its E- and R-Series flow-chemistry systems. The compact, easy-to-install reactor operates at -5°–80°C.

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences launched the JA-14.50 rotors for the Avanti centrifuge series, calling them the only high-performance rotors capable of spinning 50, 15, 5 and 1.5 mL conical tubes, and 50, 15 and 10 mL round-bottom tubes and bottles at their maximum speeds.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduced the Thermo Scientific Sorvall RC BIOS 10 large-capacity centrifuge system for cell culture and bioprocessing applications.

In March, Thermo Fisher Scientific released the Thermo Scientific E1-ClipTip electronic pipette, featuring adjustable tip spacing.

BINDER introduced the CB series of CO2 incubators, featuring a fixed, heat-sterilizable CO2 sensor with IR technology and reduced humidity recovery times.

Sotax launched the Xtend dissolution testing product line consisting of Xtend modules, such as the dissolution bath and pump, which can be flexibly combined for different automation requirements.

Telstar announced in March the sale of 63 compact Class II safety cabinets to the new NUI Galway Biomedical Science Research Facility in Ireland.
