Waters Acquires Software Firm
The purchase indicates the importance of software for MS data analysis as a differentiating factor in MS companies’ offerings and of the complex data analysis requirements of biopharmaceutical research. Nonlinear Dynamics will transfer sales and support for its Progenesis SameSpots software for 2D gel electrophoresis image analysis to its sister company, TotalLab.
Milford, MA 8/7/13—Waters has acquired Nonlinear Dynamics, a UK-based provider of proteomics and metabolomics analysis software, including Progenesis software for analyzing and visualizing raw proteomic data, for an undisclosed amount. “The opportunity to combine Nonlinear Dynamics informatics expertise with Waters worldwide leadership in chromatography and mass spectrometry will continue to create significant benefits for omics-focused scientists and laboratories,” commented Dr. Rohit Khanna, vice president of Informatics and Worldwide Marketing for the Waters Division. The companies previously collaborated on the development of the Waters TransOmics Informatics solution for proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics analysis (see IBO 8/15/12).
