Applied Instrument Technologies Acquired
The Thompson Group was founded by Raymon F. Thompson. Mr. Thompson was founder and CEO of Semitool, a supplier of wafer surface preparation and electrochemical deposition systems for semiconductor fabrication, which was sold last year to Applied Materials. AIT is a major provider of process GC and process MS systems for the petrochemical industry.
Kalispell, MT 10/5/10—Applied Instruments Technologies (AIT) has been acquired from Hamilton Sundstrand by the Thompson Group of Companies for an undisclosed amount. AIT is a manufacturer and marketer of process analytical instruments, including the Analect FTIR, MGA MS and FXi GC systems. “The opportunity to organize AIT as a standalone company will allow us to accelerate our leadership in the development, manufacturing and aftermarket support of process analytical instruments,” stated AIT President Joe LaConte. Located in Pomona, California, AIT will move into a new nearby facility in early 2011. AIT has 10 sales and service offices worldwide and 30 international channel partners. The company has an installed base of more than 2,200 systems.
