GE Sells Lab Filter and Membrane Business
Maine Manufacturing is a contract manufacturer of specialty plastic, filtration, membrane and fluid technologies. It was founded by former Whatman employees, including Whatman CEO Bill Emhiser, after Whatman was acquired by GE Healthcare (see IBO 2/15/08).
Sanford, ME 12/11/12—Maine Manufacturing has acquired from GE the assets of its laboratory filter and membrane business. The acquired product lines include the Cameo brand of syringe filters, capsule and cut disc filters; transfer membranes; and flat sheet and roll stock microporous membranes. Maine Manufacturing will continue to operate the Westborough, Massachusetts facility that makes the products. The company also acquired the polycarbonate and polyester track-etched membranes previously produced in Bryan, Texas. “The team at Maine Manufacturing plans to expand customer and applications support and is looking forward to working with our new distribution partners to continue to grow this business,” said Maine Manufacturing President Bill Emhiser.
