Sartorius Stedim Biotech Acquires Bioreactor Company

Sartorius Stedim Biotech distributes Wave Biotech AG’s BioWave and ReeWelder 3/ReeSealer bioreactors. Sartorius Stedim Biotech’s pro forma sales have fallen 2.4% in the first nine months of this year, hastened by a weak North American market.

Goettingen, Germany 10/31/08—Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH has acquired Wave Biotech AG, a developer of single-use bioreactors for bipharmaceutical manufacturing, for an undisclosed amount. The two companies have worked together since 2006 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech exclusively markets Wave Biotech’s products, Wave Biotech’s products are expected to contribute €10 million ($13 million) in revenues this year to Sartorius Stedim Biotech.
