Duran Acquired
OEP told IBO that over 75% of Duran’s revenues are related to lab products. Asked how OEP plans to grow Duran’s lab-glass business, Dr. Zirener said, “We believe that Duran has the right foundation from which to execute a buy-and-build strategy, which will transform the company into a leading niche supplier for the life science, health care and pharma industries worldwide. OEP and Duran will closely align to further grow and strengthen the business, both organically as well as externally through accretive and synergistic acquisitions.”
Frankfurt, Germany 12/2/14; Munich, Germany 12/2/14—Private equity firm One Equity Partners (OEP) has acquired the Duran Group from ADCURAM for an undisclosed amount. Duran manufactures borosilicate glass, which is highly resistant to chemicals and temperature, and is mainly used for laboratory glassware, chemical-process engineering and in-home appliances. The DURAN brand provides premium laboratory glass. Based in Germany with 700 employees, Duran has annual revenues of around €100 million ($133 million = €0.75 = $1). “With our long-standing experience in the life science and health care sector and global presence, we believe to be the right partner for management to transform Duran into the leading global supplier of attractive niches in the life science, pharma and health care industry by continuing to expand its market position globally as well as enlarging its product portfolio,” stated Dr. Jörg Zirener, OEP partner and managing director. The transaction is expected to close in 2015.
