Bruker Acquires Fluorescence-Microscopy Firm

Vutara is based in Utah and, according to Bruker’s website, the Vutara 350 is the only commercially available video-rate super-resolution microscope. Applications for it include cell and neurobiology research.

Billerica, MA 7/28/14—Bruker has acquired Vutara, a provider of high-speed, 3D, super-resolution fluorescence microscopy for life science applications, for an undisclosed amount. Vutara is estimated to have 2014 revenues of $2 million. Bruker stated that the acquisition adds super-resolution and single-molecule localization microscopy products to its multiphoton scanning confocal fluorescence-microscopy product line. “Achieving video-rate time resolution, higher spatial resolution, all with improved ease of use, is generating considerable excitement in this rapidly growing area, and this is exactly what Vutara brings to Bruker’s customers with its proprietary technology,” commented Mark R. Munch, PhD, president of the Bruker MAT Group.
