VWR CEO Departs

Mr. Ballbach has been president and CEO of VWR since 2005 (see IBO 12/31/05) and prior to its acquisition by Madison Dearborn Partners (see IBO 5/15/07). In the first quarter, VWR revenues grew 4.2%, including 1.0% organic growth (see IBO 7/15/12).

Radnor, PA 7/26/12; Washington, DC 7/25/12—VWR International Chairman, President and CEO John Ballbach has left the company, effective July 25. Manuel Brocke-Benz, senior vice president and managing director of Europe, Lab and Distribution Services, has assumed the position of interim CEO. The company has initiated a search for a new CEO. Mark McLoughlin, senior vice president of Emerging Businesses, was named president of the US. Ted Pulkownik, senior vice president of Strategy and Corporate Development, has assumed Mr. McLoughlin’s former responsibilities for emerging markets. Board member Harry J. Kraemer has been named chairman. He is an executive partner of Madison Dearborn Partners, which is a majority equity owner of VWR.
