Company Announcements

In January, Bruker named Andy Boorn as president of its CAM division. Mr. Boorn previously served as president of AB SCIEX. Bruker also announced plans to narrow CAM’s strategic focus. In February, the company merged the commercial management organizations of its CAM and LSC divisions.

In February, Avacta named Michael Albin, PhD, to its Board. He previously served as vice president of Strategic Technologies at Applied Biosystems.

Eppendorf announced a three-year partnership with the Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.

In March, Spectris named Lisa A. Davis to its Board. She is executive vice president, Strategy, Portfolio and Alternate Energy, at Shell International Petroleum.

MOCON 2013 revenue for its Industrial Analyzer Products and Services and Other segment, consisting primarily of gas analyzers, sensors and detectors, grew 16.1% to $10.4 million, or 18% of revenues. Segment operating income declined 20.5% to $406,565.

In March, PerkinElmer entered into a strategic agreement to serve as the exclusive commercial partner for the sales and marketing of Good Start Genetics’ GoodStart Select genetic carrier–screening tests to targeted OBGYN and MFM (maternal-fetal medicine) physicians in the US.

Analytik Jena named three new members to its Supervisory Board: Andreas Krey, CEO of the State Development Corporation of Thuringia; Dr. Heiner Zehntner, corporate director and legal counsel at Endress + Hauser; and Matthias Altendorf, CEO of Endress + Hauser.

Agilent Technologies announced that George A. Scangos, PhD, CEO and director of Biogen Idec, will join its Board in September.

In 2013, bioMérieux Industrial Applications revenue grew 3.3%, 6.8% at constant exchange rates, to €330 million ($440 million), or 21% of total revenues.

Merck Millipore named Dr. Udit Batra as CEO and president, effective May 15. He was formerly CEO and president of Merck KGaA’s Consumer Health unit.

In March, Becton, Dickinson named Dr. Claire Pomeroy, president of the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation, to its Board.

In March, Danaher appointed Rainer Blair as vice president and group executive with responsibility for the Life Sciences platform. Mark A. Beck joined the company as executive vice president and will oversee the Water Quality platform. He most recently served as executive vice president, Environmental Technologies and Life Sciences, at Corning.

In March, Johnson Controls launched an enhanced Integrated Laboratory Services offering, which includes a range of specialist solutions.
