In a March SEC filing, QIAGEN reported that it paid $68.2 million in cash, net of cash acquired, to purchase CLC bio (see IBO 10/31/13).

Bina Technologies introduced Bina Desktop, a new deployment of its Bina Analysis platform designed for quickly and cost effectively analyzing NGS data.

In April, Illumina introduced TruSeq RNA Access Library Prep Kits for analyzing RNA isolated from FFPE tissues; the TruSight Myeloid Sequencing Panel for identification of somatic mutations in myeloid malignancies; and BaseSpace Core Apps for the cancer market.

Life Technologies released the Oncomine NGS RNA-Seq Gene Expression Browser.
RainDance Technologies introduced the ThunderBolts Cancer Panel for profiling a wide range of tumor samples. It targets 50 cancer genes and has a workflow optimized for Illumina NGS systems.
