Thermo Lab Workstations Business Sold
The Laboratory Workstation products are sold under the Hamilton, Advanced Laboratory Concepts and Collegedale brand names. Earlier this year, Thermo disclosed the planned divestment (see IBO 6/30/12), stating that the operation was a noncore business.
Los Angeles, CA 10/24/12—OpenGate Capital has acquired Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Laboratory Workstations business for an undisclosed amount. With $175 million in annual revenues, the Laboratory Workstations business designs, manufactures and installs lab furniture, fume hoods and epoxy resin tops. “I am confident that great value will be created as this acquisition sits perfectly in our wheel house of expertise; from transitioning and operating a niche manufacturing business, to satisfying existing and new customer orders, and integrating approximately 1,800 employees into our family of companies,” stated Andrew Nikou, OpenGate Capital founder, managing partner and CEO. “
