Anton Paar Makes Acquisition

Petrotest offers petroleum testing instrumentation, including flash point testers, distillation units and texture testing equipment. Among the company’s products is PetroOXY Rapid Oxidation Stability tester for liquid fuels. The acquisition will expand Anton Paar’s industrial business. Anton Paar provides a wide range of laboratory and process instrumentation, including density, and carbon dioxide meters, rheometers, and surface characterization systems.

Graz, Austria 2/29/12—Anton Paar, a provider of analytical instrumentation, has acquired the Petrotest Group for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 1873 and based in Germany, Petrotest provides systems for determining the flash point of petroleum products using the Pensky-Martens method. “The combination of existing technologies from both companies results in a promising synergy effect and allows the development of new measuring instruments,” said Anton Paar CEO Dr. Friedrich Santner. “Our strategic aim is clear: by providing a comprehensive range of measuring instruments for laboratories in the oil industry we want to become the preferred partner of our customers in a wider field.” Petrotest will become Anton Paar’s 17th subsidiary and will continue operate from its headquarters in Dahlewitz, which will be expanded. The subsidiary will be managed by Florian Wierzbicki, Petrotest’s commercial manager, and Heinz Kindlhofer, Business Development manager at Anton Paar.
