Harvard Bioscience Further Expands Electrophysiology Business
Harvard Bioscience continues to add to its electrophysiology business, in line with its strategy to become a leader in specialized life science markets. HEKA’s products include patch-clamp systems and amplifiers as well as electrochemistry systems.
Holliston, MA 1/8/15—Harvard Bioscience has acquired German firm HEKA Elektronik for $6 million in cash. HEKA develops patch-clamp amplifier instruments for biomedical-research applications. The acquisition is expected to add $4–$5 million to Harvard Bioscience’s 2015 revenues and to be accretive to 2015 earnings. “The acquisition of HEKA builds on our acquisitions of Multi Channel Systems MCS GmbH and Triangle BioSystems, Inc., both completed last October. It will allow us to expand our presence and become one of the top leaders in the global electrophysiology market,” stated Jeffrey A. Duchemin, CEO and president of Harvard Bioscience.
