MO BIO also supplies ClearMag magnetic bead technology. QIAGEN told IBO that MO BIO has around 50 employees. QIAGEN’s current microbiome offerings include DNA isolation kits, NGS library preparation kits and the CLC Microbial Genomics Module.
Venlo, the Netherlands 1/10/16; San Francisco, CA 1/12/16—Biological technology firm QIAGEN has purchase MO BIO Laboratories, a provider of sample technologies for microbiomes. Financial details were not disclosed. At this month’s JP Morgan Healthcare Conference, QIAGEN CEO Peer M. Schatz commented that the acquisition gives the company a leading position in microbiome sample preparation. “We clearly saw and shared the view that this was a rapidly growing field,” said Mr. Schatz. MO BIO’s spin column–based Inhibitor Removal Technology allows isolation of DNA and RNA from complex samples, including soil, water, plants and stool.
